The first step to start saving money is to figure out how much you spend. It's that easy! Keep track of all your expenses.

Once you have your data, organize the number by categories, such as gas, groceries and loans (mortgages, car, HELOC), and then total each amount. Use your credit card and account statements to make sure you're accurate-and don't forget anything.

Be in control of your money. Organizing your expenses allows you to visually see what you are spending and over spending on. Prioritize your list, and see which items you can cut costs on. Since you are in control of your spending, this is the biggest tool you have to change your financial future, and it gives you the power to make changes starting today!
