Professional of the Year!

Railway Credit Union is proud to annouce that Heather Fleck of our Mandan branch recieved the 2020 Professional of the Year from Dakota Credit Union Association.

Heather has been active in the credit union movement for over 15 years. She began her career as a member service representative and quickly was promoted in 2008 to Financial Services Officer. Heather’s skill for caring for people and analytical skills brought her to her current position of Vice President of Operations in 2014.

As the Vice President of Operations, Heather manages our electronic services, oversees our deposit and marketing department managers, is our systems administrator, does project management, analytics of our systems, and assists in the credit union annual strategic planning and goal setting.

Even with all of this on Heather’s workload, she always steps in and assists other staff and departments when needed without being asked. She will often help in the teller line during lunches when they are short staffed or open accounts if our Accounts Manager is absent.
Heather has served on the Missouri Valley Chapter of credit unions from 2015 to present and currently serves as the president since 2017. She attends many CUAD and CUNA conferences to grow professionally. She attended CUNA’s World Class Service School where the implementation of new Service Standards contributed to Railway Credit Unions culture of positivity and promoting staff education.

Heather makes a priority to grow professionally and take the things she learns to keep the credit union philosophy alive. Heather graduated from CUNA’s management school in 2019 and uses her Certified Credit Union Executive certification to implement many of the techniques she learned to keep Railway Credit Union ahead of the Fintech disruption.

Heather has also been awarded the Arnold Paulsen Scholarship in 2011 and the William Knight Scholarship in 2017. She has been nominated for the quarterly above and beyond award at Railway Credit Union several times, winning twice due to her commitment to taking care of our members and the positive example she sets for our staff.

Heather contributes each year to the CUPAC/CULAC and has been a capital club member since she began her career at Railway credit union.

Outside of her credit union involvement, Heather stays involved with her community of Flasher. She served on the Flasher Park Board from 2010 to 2012. This board was a city-wide initiative to grow the community athletic and arboretum programs. She participates in the annual adopt a family for Christmas providing help to those in need, as well as volunteers for the local soup café. She is active with the Mandan Progress Organization and serves as a volunteer for events such as the Chew and Brew, rodeo, and art in the park. She participates in the annual Little Black Dress campaign, miracles jeans day, and salvation army fundraising.
